The First Day

On the first day, your tattoo may feel sore, tender, and may have a bit of redness and swelling. It is essential to keep your tattoo clean and dry. Avoid touching or scratching your tattoo, and do not remove the bandage until instructed by your tattoo artist. After removing the bandage, gently wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat it dry with a clean towel, and do not re-bandage it.

Healing Process

For the next few weeks, you must follow these aftercare instructions to keep your tattoo clean and healthy:

  • Wash your tattoo gently with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap twice a day.

  • Pat your tattoo dry with a clean towel or air-dry it.

  • Apply a thin layer of unscented, water-based moisturizer to your tattoo to prevent it from getting dry and itchy.

  • Avoid exposing your tattoo to direct sunlight, swimming, soaking in the bathtub, sauna, or steam room until it is fully healed.

  • Wear loose-fitting and breathable clothing to prevent any friction or irritation to your tattoo.

  • Do not scratch, pick, or peel your tattoo, as it can lead to infection or scarring.
